Step 2d - Define Clearance Procedures

Once you have assigned access security clearances, you will develop the security clearance procedures that define how Entrants will be recognized and the access rules they must follow as they move throughout the facility.  You may need the help of Personnel or a security professional for this step.

The security clearance procedures should address:

  • Pre-admission qualifications
Define your requirements for granting specific clearance (i.e. background checks, identification validation, reference checks.

  • Entry protocols
How does an assigned security clearance level access the facility? Do they have a pass key or access card?  Do they need to follow sign-in, sign-out procedures?

  • Uniforms/personal identification
What makes the assigned security clearance level recognizable?

When am I done with this step?

This section is complete when you document the security clearance procedures for each assigned security clearance level and verify the procedures are sufficient to identify the Entrants assigned to each clearance level.
